The NBTHK certifies this blade as Tokubetsu Hozon Token,
a rank granted to swords of exceptional preservation, authenticity and artistic value.


DETAILED PROFESSIONAL DESCRIPTION

Blade

Signed Aizu Omi Genkō, dated August 1843, this blade represents the refined craftsmanship of the Aizu domain. The inclusion of 臣 (“Omi”, meaning retainer/official of the domain) indicates formal affiliation, a characteristic signature pattern of Aizu smiths in late Edo.

A beautifully controlled notare-midare, smooth and luminous, with a clear nioiguchi—an elegant example of Edo workmanship.

Medium-sized with a strong, healthy boshi.
